John Sigler Photograph Collection, 1949-1951.

The John Sigler Photograph Collection consists of photographs, negatives, and color transparencies depicting primarily University of Alaska (College) campus scenery and events (sports, dances, classes, commencement) and yearbook portraits for the period 1949 (September) through 1951 (May). It also includes images of events and scenery in Fairbanks, Alaska, and vicinity dating to the same period. All photos in the collection were taken by John Sigler.

John Sigler attended the University of Alaska in College, Alaska, on the GI Bill. With a Speed Graphic camera, he documented all aspects of campus life and various Fairbanks, Alaska, events in the years 1949-1951. His work appeared not only in the campus yearbook, but in the campus paper and the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Sigler graduated from UA in 1951 with a degree in biology. Following a highschool teaching career in the sciences in California, he retired with his wife to Homer, Alaska. ...
